Basketball
Growing up, basketball was one of the first sports I tried and stuck with. I quickly excelled at basketball and joined a travel team. In seventh grade I tried out and made an AAU team. I made so many friends through basketball and I cherish all of the memories. I was one of the key players on both my travel and AAU team.
The summer going into eighth grade, I attended Century High School's youth basketball camp. The coach immediately recognized my talent and invited me to play with Century's varsity team in the summer league. We played all of the county schools in this league, which was good preparation for the regular season. In eighth grade I gave up AAU basketball, and finished out my last season of travel basketball.
As an incoming freshman, I was invited to play with the school's varsity team in the summer league again. I did very well in the summer league and it earned me a spot later that year on the varsity team. My freshman season I was a starter and heavily relied on to lead the defense. Even though we had a successful season my freshman year, I didn't try out for basketball again my sophomore or junior year. I decided to spend the winter season focusing on getting better at volleyball.
Now that my senior year has rolled around, I miss the excitement of the game. A new rule was just established for athletes to be able to dual sport in a season. So in my senior winter season I can continue to participate with indoor track and return to the basketball court. I will also be playing club volleyball during the winter, so I will be balancing a heavy school coursework while playing in 3 sports. It will be a challenge but I've managed well the past 3 years to get this far!

After one of my basketball games my freshman year, I was interviewed by a local radio station that covered the game. Watch below!
